Character Bio

Godric is a vampire who is over two thousand years old and has become weary of being immortal. Unlike most vampires, Godric no longer desires or enjoys the bloodshed, violence, and evil ways of the undead. Eric Northman is extremely loyal to Godric and was turned by him a thousand years ago.
Godric was born over 2000 years ago. Little is known about his past, though his tattoos are evocative of numerous ancient cultures, Ancient Rome in particular. Its implied that he was either a Celt or a Pict and was made vampire around age 16. He said that he is older than Jesus Christ himself putting his birth date before 4 B.C having been born around about the year 8 B.C and turned around the time of 9 C.E should it be right that he was turned around about 16 years of age.
After Death
c. 1000
Godric saw the viking Eric Northman fighting on the battlefield somewhere in Scandinavia. Extremely impressed with Eric's battle skills, Godric offered the fatally wounded viking immortality and made him a vampire. ("Never Let Me Go") At some point after this he turned or befriended the vampires Stan and Isabel, who became his close advisers and almost friends.
Season 2
Unbeknownst to his underlings, Stan and Isabel, Godric offered himself to the Fellowship of the Sun church to "meet the sun." Eric, as his progeny, was notified of Godric's disappearance and made a deal with Sookie to use her telepathy to help find him. ("Release Me") When Eric heard for sure that Godric was being held by the Fellowship, he rushed to his aid and offered himself to the church in place of Godric. In the chaos, Stan showed up with reinforcements to start a conflict with the anti-vampire church, but Godric stopped him. Preaching a message of peaceful coexistence with humans, Godric defused the situation, and returned to his nest with the vampires of the area. ("Timebomb")
Believing that his 2,000 year existence was a long enough life, he chose to "meet the sun" of his own free will. An emotional Eric tried to stop him, however Godric explained that a vampire's existence is meaningless. Although Eric demanded to stay with his maker to their deaths, Godric commanded Eric to seek shelter from the sun. It was Sookie who stayed by Godric's side in the end. They talked briefly about God and what awaited Godric after his death, then Godric said the sun was starting to rise. Sookie asked if he was afraid, and he said no. When she began to cry he was amazed that the thought of his death would make a human cry, and said after 2000 years on this earth he could still be amazed. He asked Sookie to watch out for Eric after he was gone. Sookie reluctantly agreed. Godric turned to the sun and burst into a beautiful blue flame. ("I Will Rise Up")
Powers & Abilities
Godric possessed the common powers and weaknesses of a vampire. Due to his age he was the oldest and most powerful vampire in the new world, needing very little blood to exist. Yet, due to his age, he was also very vulnerable to sunlight.
