Crime drama based on the novel by Mark Billingham, starring David Morrissey. DI Tom Thorne investigates when three women are discovered to have been murdered after the killer had tried to make it appear as though they had suffered strokes, but when a fourth victim is found, the detective realises it is the criminal's intention to leave the women 'locked-in', unable to communicate or move.
Eddie Marsan was born and raised in Bethnal Green, East London. He served an apprenticeship as a printer ...
Kevin Tughan used to be Tom Thorne's partner and very early on in their career; Thorne became the golden boy of the department due to what was believed to be his incredible instinct, whereas Tughan is more of a structured, persevering copper. He works hard, he doesn't have great instincts, but he's still a good copper and so there's a kind of resentment between Tughan and Thorne. Basically, Tughan is jealous of Thorne but admires him and also feels rejected by him since Thorne stopped being his partner. Thirty years earlier there was a murderer called the Pretty Boy Killer, who Thorne instinctively recognised, went to their house and – well, there's a big mystery. Did Thorne kill him or did he kill himself? It split Tughan and Thorne up and comes back to haunt them in this case.
