The X-Files Cancelled – No Season 12

The X-Files has indeed been cancelled after 11 seasons.
The news comes in the wake of Gillian Anderson reconfirming that Season 11 will be her last.
Speaking in a Reddit AMA, show creator Chris Carter admitted he has no intention of continuing The X-Files without Anderson, and described the Season 11 finale as the “series finale”:

The X-Files - Season 11 - Robert Patrick to return?

Series creator Chris Carter says that the Scorpion actor who portrayed Agent John Doggett in Seasons 8 and 9 was actually slated to appear in one of Season 11’s early installments. “I actually wrote him into an episode,” Carter reveals. “But then I found out he wasn’t going to be available to us [because of Scorpion] so I had to write him out of the episode… Scorpion is his first priority.”
Carter then cryptically adds, “That’s not to say you won’t see him this new season…”

Robbie Amell (The Flash) and Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under)
have signed on to reprise their roles as Agents Miller and Einstein in the series’ latest revival (set to bow on Fox in early 2018). It remains unclear how many of Season 11’s 10 episodes they will appear in, also Barbara Hershey has been tapped for a recurring role on the 10 episode eleventh season of the Fox sci-fi drama. Oscar nominated Hershey will play Erika Price, a powerful figure who represents a mysterious organization.

X-Files News. Agent Monica Reyes returning.

Annabeth Gish announced on Instagram that she will be returning next season 11. In the original series finale, Doggett and his partner Reyes (Annabeth Gish) helped Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) go into hiding, in the aftermath of Mulder receiving a death sentence for his "crimes." However, in the revival, Reyes was seemingly aligned with series Big Bad Cigarette-Smoking Man (William B. Davis), and Doggett was nowhere to be found. The X-Files - Season 11 Mitch Pileggi Returning

Mulder and Scully will continue to have their trusted ally Walter Skinner by their side. The X-Files veteran Mitch Pileggi has closed a deal to return for the recently picked up 10-episode eleventh season of the Fox sci-fi drama and second as an event series. He will reprise his role as Walter Skinner, an assistant director at the FBI, which he played on the original Fox series as well as the 2016 six-episode event series revival, both from creator Chris Carter. Pileggi is among the first X-Files actors to be locked in to join returning stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny for the new installment, set to begin filming this summer for a premiere next season.

'The X-Files' To Return In 2017-2018

Fox announced today that another limited run of The X-Files has been ordered to continue the event series revival from 2016. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will be back as agents Mulder and Scully, with creator and executive producer Chris Carter returning as well.
The cult favorite sci-fi series was revived early last year after a 13-year absence. After a short, but successful run, fans were left unsure of its future after there was no mention of the show when the network announced its schedule for 2016-2017. At the time though, Fox executives stated that the door was being left open for an eventual return.
Now after a one-year break, Fox has ordered 10 new episodes of The X-Files for the 2017-2018 broadcast season. Production is slated to begin this summer, with a possible premiere early next year

The X-Files Season 11 Greenlight from FOX ?

After months of rumours, an eleventh season of The X-Files is within sight. Fox execs are targeting a “more traditional” episode order for the new season and that the official green-light is expected from the network “within weeks”, but hearing that after hoping to convince Chris Carter, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson to sign on for the eleventh season, Fox senior executives, led by Dana Walden are saying the order will be for ten episodes.

The X-Files Not Returning In 2016-2017

Fox announced its schedule for the upcoming 2016-2017 season today, and notably absent was another edition of The X-Files, which was revived earlier this year after 13 years off the air. During the network's upfront press call, however, Fox TV Group executives offered fans some hope that the series may still return for another season.
Speaking on interest by the creator and cast, it was noted that Chris Carter, David Duchovny, and Gillian Anderson were all up for another installment. Speculation for a return time frame was even stated, with the 2017-2018 season tentatively eyed for new episodes.
For now, though, fans will have to patiently wait until a final decision is made. And that news might not come for some time. Stay tuned...

Chris Carter has dropped a fresh hint that he plans to continue The X-Files into Season 11, renewal permitting.
Speaking to THR, the series creator admitted that he hopes the show can continue beyond Season 10’s six-episode revival, likely in the form of event series or specials, while joking that:

The X-Files has recruited an important member of the Buy More team for Fox's revival. Chuck star Vik Sahay will appear in an upcoming episode of the limited series, Sahay will play a man Mulder (David Duchovny) turns to for information during an investigation.

Robert Patrick and Annabeth Gish were main cast members for the final two seasons, playing the parts of Special Agent John Doggett and Special Agent Monica Reyes, respectively. While Mitch Pileggi, of course, played FBI Assistant Director Skinner from the closing episodes of the first season onwards. While sources have stated that the trio are being eyed to reprise their roles,
