Astrid Finch is Stephen's best friend and a 'Sap' (member of the species homo sapiens). She learns about Stephen's powers and the world of the Tomorrow People, which soon puts her in danger. She has a close bond with Stephen and after nearly being killed twice, develops a close bond with John, who assists her get over her fears.
Astrid is very supportive and understanding towards Stephen. She has been by his side all throughout his psychotic troubles. Astrid is compassionate and protective, and she does get angry when she is lied to. She is shown also to take news that would normally be an immense shock to normal people, quite well, showing she has a strong mentallity state also. She is highly opinioated like when she tells John that his powers are not what make him special and she tells Russel with fire that she is fighting for her life and will not run.
Astrid is the one friend that has stayed by Stephen's side through the tough times. She is his voice of reason and his best friend.
Astrid tries to be supportive and understanding of the issues her close friend Stephen Jameson is dealing with. In the episode Girl, Interrupted, Astrid sees Stephen teleporting away from the train tracks. She shows up in his room when he arrives, demanding to know the truth. When Stephen denies being at the tracks, she angrily tells him that she will find out for herself and leaves. At the end of All Tomorrow's Parties, Stephen shows her his teleporting powers. In Limbo, we find out that she is in love with Stephen.
