Sheryl's comment

Sheryl is wrong about her comments to just let kids "work it out" when they are being bullied at school. It doesn't work. Some kids are mean or even mentally disturbed and sometimes they don't want to work anything out. Although this should be a first step when violence is not involved, telling a kid to just work it out is old school and irresponsible. That's why children bring guns to school...many times in their minds it is to protect themselves. This should not be a test of who is the biggest and baddest. Abuse of any kind should result in negative consequences not being promoted to the most popular kid in school. Consequences are being suspended, expelled, or legal ramifications for the family. Not everyone has good parents. Some are on drugs themselves or condone bully behavior because that's what they did and do. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree as they say. Unless I knew the parents, I would not personally confront some kid's parents which could create a more serious problem. That's a role that belongs to the school. I would consider legal options in a second if the school did not appropriately intervene.

I could be wrong but the reason there are so many problems in schools these days with kids not getting along is that the Parents are not attending their child's PTA group, or not meeting with their child's teacher one on one. But most of all, some parents are not taking the time to get to know their child's friends from school and or meeting the parents of their child's friend.

If parents got together to become more familiar with each other there may be less problems. And if a problem does occur it could possibly be solved with less conflict and not lead to violence.

Yes, it may seem we are busy these days, but if someone decides to have a child it is first the Parents responsibility to take care of child and second the community (to help out if need be) not the other way around.

If a couple cannot afford to take care of a child then they should keep their pants zipped up and not spread their legs apart. Because you know what happens when you do that - a child can be created. Then we are back to the problem of Parents not taking or having the time to raise their children.
