Mumbly dresses in a trench coat, drives a beat-up old car and solves crimes using his dog senses. Mumbly is famous for his wheezy laugh. He does not really talk; he mumbles and grumbles unintelligibly, and often uses his trademark snicker, a wheezing asthmatic laugh. Detective Lieutenant Mumbly's boss is Shnooker, an egotistical police chief who tries to take credit for nearly all of Mumbly's heroic deeds.
