The series is set among the expat community on the eponymous Spanish island. While self-confessed introverted British police officer Miranda Blake takes her career - as well as everything else in life - seriously, German detective Max Winter is a classic extrovert and unashamedly unconventional. Yet despite - or perhaps because of - their very different approaches, the sleuths form a perfect complimentary partnership as they seek to solve a new crime on the island each week.
