The Chi is a powerful coming-of-age drama series about an interconnected group of working-class African-Americans who remind us that no matter what, the human spirit is strong and hope never dies. On Chicago's south side, an average day finds kids prepping for school as their parents head off to work, young adults trying to make a living. But in this tough neighborhood, real dangers threaten daily to squelch dreams, and the simplest decisions can have life or death consequences.
'The Chi' Renewed For Season 4
Showtime announced today that The Chi has been picked up for a fourth season. The good news comes two weeks following the conclusion of Season 3, which grew its audience by over 10 percent compared to Season 2 despite mixed reviews from both audiences and critics.
The series was created by Lena Waithe, who is probably best-known for her work on Netflix comedy Master of None, of which she starred in and wrote for. Waithe had a noteworthy year in 2017, becoming the first African-American woman to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.
Look for Season 4 of The Chi in mid-to-late 2021.
