In the end, "The Biggest Loser" becomes the biggest winner, walking away with a healthier body - and $250,000.
Twenty-nine-year-old single nanny Felicia Buffkin recalls the turning point for her to decide to change her life. "The moment I realized I have been in hiding in order to avoid people seeing me fat was a big eye-opener," she says. "I want to see myself happy again and fit and no longer hiding. I also want to start dating again and not be ashamed of myself, and to wear whatever I want to." Felicia was born and raised in Pensacola, Florida, the second youngest of eight children. Her father passed away from lung cancer when she was a baby, and she left her mom and stepfather's home at age 13 to escape what she describes as a poor and hostile environment, moving in with her older sister for a chance at a better life. Felicia started gaining weight around age 19, but especially in recent years due to stress eating and lack of consistent exercise. Now 234 pounds and suffering from chronic idiopathic hives for the past two years, Felicia looks forward to losing the weight and feeling confident in her own skin, being social again and no longer hiding herself. "I can't wait to start dating and to potentially meet my future husband," she says.
