The Americans, created by Joe Weisberg and starring Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys and Noah Emmerich, is a period drama about the complex marriage of two KGB spies posing as Americans in suburban Washington DC shortly after Ronald Reagan is elected President. The arranged marriage of Phillip and Elizabeth, who have two children who know nothing about their parents true identity.

Character Bio

Elizabeth Jennings (real name, Nadezhda) is a KGB agent from the Soviet Union. She's attempting to infiltrate the U.S. Government by pretending to be an American. She has children that she can not go a day without thinking about them before herself. Elizabeth is extremely patriotic to the Soviet Union. She was born before WWII in the Soviet Union. While she was located in the Soviet Union her name was Nadezhda which she changed during her arrival in the U.S.
Early in her training, Elizabeth was raped by Nikolai Timoshev. Elizabeth had an affair with Gregory Thomas for fourteen years. Although she and Philip never fell in love in the early years of their partnership, Elizabeth has developed feelings for him and is now in love with him.
