1836, Texas frontier was viewed as hell on earth. no one was safe. But this was a time of bravery, a time to die for what you believed in and a time to stand tall against the fierce Mexican General Santa Anna and his forces. General Sam Houston, the rag tag Rangers and the legendary "Yellow Rose of Texas,” lead this story of the human will to fight for independence despite nearly insurmountable odds and to claim a piece of history for all eternity.

In his 50's and hard of hearing, Deaf is one of the first Rangers and certainly one of the most legendary. He’s a grizzled veteran whose hearing deficiency, coupled with an advanced case of consumption, does not dampen his fighting spirit. Deaf refuses to recuse himself from the fight for Texas freedom, much to the deepening concern of his loving wife, Guadalupe. As big-hearted as he is tough, he takes in a toddler who has survived the Alamo massacre to raise as his own, but he wants the girl and Guadalupe far away and safe before Santa Anna strikes again. Later, he gives General Houston the benefit of his invaluable counsel in confronting the enemy forces. Even at the brink of death, Deaf is a fierce loyalist to Texas and to Sam Houston, and he insists on riding off with the Rangers to rescue Emily West from the sadistic Colonel Portillo, one of Santa Anna’s right hand men.
