This is a remake of the show originally aired in 1975 - 1977 which was based on the novel by Terry Nation. What happens after a plague has wiped out over 95% of the world's population? The show portrays the experiences of a group of individuals in England as they grapple with the post-plague world and the trials of day-to-day survival.

Series 2 ran in January-February 2010 and ended with a cliffhanger. It was announced on 13th April 2010 that, due to poor viewing figures, Survivors had been cancelled.
