Twenty-four-year-old Kara Zor-El, who was taken in by the Danvers family when she was 13 after being sent away from Krypton, must learn to embrace her powers after previously hiding them. The Danvers teach her to be careful with her powers, until she has to reveal them during an unexpected disaster, setting her on her journey of heroism. Kara Zor-El who is the cousin of Kal-El better known as Superman.

'Supergirl' Renewed For Season 5

The CW announced today that Supergirl has been renewed for a fifth season. Airing on Sunday nights this season for the first time in its run, the series has continued to draw respectable ratings that place it in the middle of the pack compared to other shows in the network's lineup.
The action drama has been a solid addition to The CW's superhero lineup since its move from its original home on CBS after Season 1. Airing on The CW, the show benefits from crossover episodes with other shows from the DC Comics universe, which have proven to give it a significant ratings bump.

Supergirl is to become the first live-action TV series to feature a transgender superhero.
Activist and actor Nicole Maines, who is transgender herself, will play the role of Nia Nal, who becomes known as Dreamer. "It seems only fitting that we have a trans superhero for trans kids to look up to," she said after the announcement at Comic Con in San Diego, California. Nia Nal will be introduced in Supergirl's upcoming fourth season.

Chris wood, who played Mon-El, will not be returning for Season 4. Whilst original cast member Jeremy Jordan (“Winn”) will return in just a recurring capacity but Jesse Rath, who plays Brainiac-5 (“Brainy”) has been promoted to series regular.

'Supergirl' Renewed For Season 4

The CW announced today that Supergirl has been renewed for a fourth season. Airing on Monday nights, the series draws fairly consistent ratings that place it in the middle of the pack compared to other shows in the network's lineup.
The action drama has fared well since its move to the network from its original home on CBS. Being on The CW also allows it benefit from crossover episodes with other shows from the DC Comics universe, which have proven to give it a significant ratings bump.
All five of its DC superhero series were picked up today by The CW. Fans can look forward to more Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, and Black Lightning in the 2018-2019 television season.

Supergirl adds Adrian Pasdar, Carl Lumbly, and more in season 3
Pasdar (Heroes) will play charismatic capitalist Morgan Edge, a ruthless real estate developer who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Lumbly (Alias) will play M’yrnn J’onzz, the father of J’onn J’onnz. Jane the Virgin‘s Yael Grobglas will play Psi, a psychic villain who uses people’s own minds against them. Emma Tremblay (Elysium) will play Ruby, a smart, independently minded National City kid who’s fascinated by Supergirl and ends up in jeopardy because of it.

Erica Durance to Recur as Alura
Erica Durance, who played Lois Lane on the network's Smallville, is taking over the role of Alura for Laura Benanti in season three. Durance will recur in the upcoming third season and step into the role of Alura, the mother of Melissa Benoist's Supergirl.

Floriana Lima Steps Down As Series Regular
Maggie may have said yes to a future with Alex, but Floriana Lima didn't. Lima is not returning to Supergirl as a series regular so that she can pursue other opportunities. However, before she parts ways with the show, she will appear in more than one episode of Season 3 to wrap up the romantic relationship that she developed with Alex.

Odette Annable cast as season 3 big bad Reign
Reign’s arrival was actually teased in the season 2 finale, which ended with a flashback to the day of Krypton’s destruction that revealed Kara (Melissa Benoist) and her cousin weren’t the only Kryptonians who escaped the planet. In the stinger, several hooded figures placed an infant in a pod that left the planet before it exploded.

Katie McGrath Promoted to a Series Regular in Season 3
Lena Luthor will be sticking around. Katie McGrath, who has recurred on Supergirl this season, has been made a regular for the upcoming Season 3, which was recently picked up by the CW. Luthor plays vixen Lena Luthor, the baby sister of Lex Luthor, who came to National City to get out from under the shadow of her notorious brother.

Supergirl Renewed For Season 3

The CW announced today that Supergirl has been renewed for a third season. The action drama will return this fall for what will be its second season on the network. After airing its first season on CBS in 2015, the show was moved to The CW for Season 2, which was seen as a better fit since it was already home to three other superhero series set in the same DC Comics universe.

Dichen Lachman Cast As Roulette
Dichen, who played Anya on The 100 and Jiaying on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., will be coming to National City in the role of Roulette, a supervillain who operates a metahuman fight club. "Roulette runs an underground alien fight club in National City and she is eager to get Supergirl in the ring," says Lachman's official character description from the network.
