'Star Trek: Discovery' Renewed For Season 4

CBS All Access announced today that Star Trek: Discovery has been picked up for a fourth season. The good news comes just one day after the sci-fi drama's Season 3 premiere, which has already been garnering plenty of positive reviews.
The big-budget production has become a solid addition to the streaming service's lineup after a somewhat rocky start. First announced in 2015, it took two years for the series to make its much-anticipated debut in late 2017 due to multiple delays as well as a showrunner change during that time. Now 30 episodes in, the series has found its groove as it eyes the now-certain 50-episode milestone which it will hit before the end of Season 4.

Production on Season 4 will be kicking off in early November, with a premiere later in 2021.

"Star Trek: Section 31" Writers are Building a Very Surprising Series, says Alex Kurtzman.

The big question: Will Captain Georgiou make it into the future with the crew of Discovery and find her way back somehow?

Alex isn't saying.

He did say it was Ms. Yeoh's idea to have her own series when she said she didn't see anyone like her in the original series and wanted to be that person for the kids.

"Why 'Star Trek Section 31' Isn't a Betrayal of Gene Roddenberry's Vision"

... is discussed in an article on Digital Spy. The Newsweek article cited was sent to the showrunners. They disagree with the writer's conclusions:

"Section 31 argues that no better future is possible, that egalitarian, democratic, anti-capitalist modes of living can only ever be a facade, masking the real politics of power."
