Character Bio

Developed during the 1968 curriculum seminars and created by Jim Henson, Big Bird is an 8-foot-2-inch tall big yellow bird with a slightly quirky and naive outlook on the world. He was the first Muppet to appear on the show and represents a 6-year old child who questions everything.
