Fox Cancels 'Scream Queens'

Fox confirmed this morning that Scream Queens has been cancelled after two seasons. The anthology series from Ryan Murphy premiered in 2015 to a fair amount of buzz, but garnered only mixed reviews and modest ratings.
A mix of both comedy and horror, Scream Queens followed a group of sorority girls who were being terrorized by a mysterious masked killer. Its campy humor elicited a wide range of opinions from viewers, resonating with some while completely turning off others.
While its numbers performed well enough in Season 1 to warrant a renewal, a dip in its sophomore viewership put the show firmly in danger despite being bolstered by a significant on-demand audience and a strong social media presence.

John Stamos joins Scream Queens season 2
The second edition of Scream Queens shifts from the first season’s college campus setting and into an all-new hospital location, “where some of the most fascinating and bizarre medical cases are under observation,” according to Fox. Stamos will play Dr. Brock Holt, “the hospital’s brilliant, but secretive, head surgeon.”

Fox Renews Scream Queens

Fox announced today that Scream Queens has been renewed for a second season. The freshman comedy-horror series, from American Horror Story's Ryan Murphy, premiered last fall as part of the network's 2015 line-up with a short 13-episode run.
Ratings weren't particularly strong for the series, which struggled to draw high numbers in the key adults 18-49 demographic despite its high profile. It fared better in other metrics, however, performing particularly well in online, on-demand, and DVR viewing. Its strong social media presence was also notable.
Look for Season 2 of Scream Queens this fall, where it is expected the show will move to a hospital setting rather than stay within a college campus as it did in Season 1.
