There is good news to report for fans of Sanditon this morning. Masterpiece on PBS has announced that it has picked up the British drama for Seasons 2 and 3, saving it from cancellation by its original network ITV in the UK.
"We are absolutely delighted to announce a second and third season of Sanditon, a show that has inspired such a passionate and devoted fan base," Masterpiece executive producer Susanne Simpson said in a statement. "Audiences can expect romance, humor and plenty of twists and turns in these new seasons of Sanditon."
Based on Jane Austen's final, unfinished novel, the series follows young heroine Charlotte Heywood, who is brought to the seaside town of Sanditon by a chance accident during Regency era. Spirited and naive, Charlotte hopes to experience everything Sanditon has to offer, but is surprised by its scheming and ambitious residents, and intrigued by the secrets they keep.
