Michael 'Rosie' Penrose (Paul Greenwood) is an earnest, fresh-faced young police constable working in a quiet seaside town in Yorkshire. He lives at home with his domineering mother, Millie (Avril Elgar / Patricia Neale), his Uncle Norman (Allan Surtees) and his Aunt Ida (Lorraine Peters). Outside the home, he has problems with his girlfriend, Gillian (Frankie Jordan).
