It is being reported that TNT has cancelled Proof after one season. The freshman drama, which starred Jennifer Beals and Matthew Modine, failed draw significant viewers during its 10-episode summer run, where it averaged roughly 2.1 million weekly viewers.

TNT has picked up their drama pilot Proof to series with a ten episode order, the network has announced. Proof follows Dr Carolyn Tyler (Jennifer Beals), a brilliant surgeon who has suffered the recent, devastating loss of her teenage son, the breakup of her marriage and a growing estrangement from their daughter. Carolyn is persuaded to investigate cases of reincarnation, out-of-body experiences, hauntings and other supernatural phenomena. Her goal is to find verifiable proof to life’s greatest questions: Is death truly the end, or is there something else beyond?

Jennifer Beals has nabbed the lead role in the pilot, playing the part of Dr Kathryn Russo. Proof follows a brilliant surgeon (Beals) who, following the death of her teenage son, begins investigating supernatural cases, including those of hauntings and reincarnation, in search of proof that death is not the end.
