Project Greenlight is a documentary series that takes an uncensored look at the challenges facing a first-time director. It starts with a digital competition, and will follow the winner from pre-production and casting through principal photography and post-production. With a script and team of industry professionals, the director must learn to cope with pressure, surviving on-set politics and leading a veteran cast and crew, while trying to deliver a viable movie - on schedule and on budget.

'Project Greenlight' Revival Ordered By HBO Max
HBO Max is bringing back Project Greenlight. The streaming service announced today that an updated version of the filmmaking documentary series is on the way from Miramax and Issa Rae.
The original Project Greenlight only aired a total of four seasons despite premiering back in 2001. Its first two seasons ran on HBO before the series was moved to Bravo in 2005 for Season 3. After a 10-year absence, the show was brought back for a fourth season on HBO in 2015, but was cancelled a year later.
The new Project Greenlight will focus on the up-and-coming generation of talented filmmakers, revealing the challenges facing the director, from pre-production and casting through to principal photography and post-production. Rae will appear in every episode to provide mentorship and guidance.
HBO Cancels Project Greenlight
Filmmaking documentary series Project Greenlight has been cancelled at HBO. From executive producers Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, the show focused on first-time filmmakers going through the process of directing a feature film and all the challenges that come along with it.

While the series won't be continuing on the cable network, Damon stated in an interview that other avenues will be explored to keep the show on the air.
