Starz announced today that Power has been renewed for a sixth season. The early pickup comes months ahead of the drama's Season 5 premiere, which is scheduled for July 1. That means Season 6 will likely bow sometime in 2019.
The series has continued to be a solid performer for the cable network. Along with its share of critical acclaim, Power attracts a sizeable audience. The show's fourth season averaged 9.3 multi-platform viewers, helping it maintain its rank as Starz's most-watched series.
Set in Manhattan, Power follows a nightclub owner who is also a big player in the city's drug trade. Wanting to leave his criminal past behind him, he realizes that running a legitimate business is not as easy as it sounds.
