Paradise Postponed is both a compassionate chronicle of English political and social life since World War II as well as a sweeping family saga spanning four decades. Simeon Simcox is the Rapstone Fanner's Socialist-minded rector. When he dies, it's revealed he bequeathed his rather large estate not to his family but to the appalling Leslie Titmuss, a conniving, self-seeking member of England's Conservative Cabinet, who's at the opposite end of the political spectrum from the rector.
