Nashville (2012)

Chart-topping Rayna James is a country legend who's had a career any singer would envy, though lately her popularity is starting to wane. Fans still line up to get her autograph, but she's not packing the arenas like she used to. 'Nashville' To End After Season 6

CMT announced today that Nashville will conclude its run after its upcoming sixth season. The move to end the show comes after only two seasons on the cable network, which became its new home after being revived from cancellation by its original network ABC in 2016.
While fans will surely be disappointed by the news, many were surprised too see the country drama renewed for a sixth season earlier this year. When lead actress Connie Britton departed the series midway through Season 5, it was speculated that the storylines would likely wind down and conclude shortly thereafter.
The sixth and final season of Nashville will air in 2018 as the last-remaining original scripted series on CMT. Look for a premiere on Thursday January 4 to kick off the show's final 16-episode run, which will be split into two parts.

CMT Renews 'Nashville'

CMT announced today that Nashville has been renewed for Season 6, marking the first pickup for the series since its move to the cable network last year. The news will surely come as a pleasant surprise to fans who may have been expecting the show to end this year due to the departure of lead actress Connie Britton ahead of its mid-season finale.

16 new episodes have been ordered for Season 6 which, though down from the typical 21 or 22 the show has been airing thus far, does fall more in-line with the count for a typical cable drama. No time frame has been announced as to when new new season will premiere, but in the meantime fans can look forward to the second half of Season 5 which will return on Thursday, June 1.
