'Nashville' To End After Season 6

CMT announced today that Nashville will conclude its run after its upcoming sixth season. The move to end the show comes after only two seasons on the cable network, which became its new home after being revived from cancellation by its original network ABC in 2016.
While fans will surely be disappointed by the news, many were surprised too see the country drama renewed for a sixth season earlier this year. When lead actress Connie Britton departed the series midway through Season 5, it was speculated that the storylines would likely wind down and conclude shortly thereafter.
The sixth and final season of Nashville will air in 2018 as the last-remaining original scripted series on CMT. Look for a premiere on Thursday January 4 to kick off the show's final 16-episode run, which will be split into two parts.
