Joe is a friendly, 40-something, slightly neurotic, separated father of two who once had dreams of being a professional golfer but instead owns and runs a party store. Now he faces the reality of mid-life with his two friends, Owen and Terry. He handles aging with humor but not without some insecurity. He also has a bit of a gambling problem, which was one of the causes of his separation and which is gradually becoming a problem again now that he’s out on his own. When it comes to personal relationships, Joe feels paralyzed by his unwillingness to give up on his marriage, even though his wife has no such qualms. Joe does, however, have his eye on a “fantasy woman” who seems to keep popping into his life.
