Stuart McMillan is named Commissioner of the SFPD and then becomes involved in a series of criminal investigations. He is frequently aided by his wife Sally, a mystery buff who is well-meaning but inexperienced. Also assisting the Commissioner, Sgt. Charles Enright, and Sally's housekeeper Mildred. He is outstanding in his loyalty and Mildred is known for her tart tongue and love of drink.
