“Married at First Sight” is an extreme social experiment following six brave singles who agree to getting legally married the moment they first meet. Four specialists will create what they believe are three perfect couples, based on scientific matchmaking. Each episode follows the newlyweds from the honeymoon to early nesting to other relatable events of married life. After several weeks together, each couple must make a decision: do they remain together or decide to separate?
Doug Hehner is a 31-year-old currently residing in Howell, NJ with his parents. The last of his friends to be married (or engaged), he considers himself a carefree guy and attributes his positive, genuine and optimistic outlook on life to his family and close friends. Doug has worn many professional hats, including a baseball player invited to try out for several major league teams, as well as an ordained minister, though his current job is a commercial sales rep and lifeguard (on weekends, in season).
Doug’s life goals are to be happily married with a few children, as well as swim with great white sharks. His dating history includes three long-term relationships, and suggests they ended due to long-distance or lack of any future. After countless attempts to find love, Doug is tired of waiting. Naming himself “the world’s greatest spooner”, Doug is ready for marriage, looking for a spouse with a great sense of humor who is equally open, honest, loving, unselfish and goal-oriented.
