WGN America Cancels Manhattan

WGN America confirmed today that Manhattan has been cancelled after two seasons. The period drama, which followed events around the creation of the Manhattan Project in the 1940's, was the cable network's second original scripted series behind the still-airing Salem.
The show garnered its share of critical praise but failed to draw enough viewers during its run to sustain it any further. The final episode ofManhattan aired this past December.

WGN America Release First Trailer For 'Manhattan'
WGN America has released the first glimpse of its upcoming historical drama Manhattan. Set in Los Alamos, N.M., in the 1940s, the period series follows the Manhattan Project, aka the mission to build the world’s first atomic bomb. John Benjamin Hickey (The Big C) stars as Frank Winter, head of a scientific team recruited to work in secret to develop a weapon of unparalleled power. Manhattan will premiere on WGN America on Sunday, July 27th, at 9/8c and you can check out the trailer here.

WGN America Sets 'Manhattan' Premiere Date
WGN America’s just announced the premiere date for its second original scripted drama centering around the Manhattan Project. Titled Manhatten, the show is set to premiere Sunday, July 27th at 10/9c, the 13-episode series is created and written by Sam Shaw and directed by Thomas Schlamme. Set in the 1940s, the project follows a town whose very existence is classified. Frank Winter (John Benjamin Hickey) and his team of brilliant but flawed scientists working on a project that even they could know nothing about until their arrival. It’s a show full of secrets, including husbands and wives deceiving one another, the military keeping secrets from the scientists and the scientists keeping secrets from each other. It’s a story depicting the “wonder, danger and deceit that shadowed the first ‘nuclear’ families.”

'Game Of Thrones' Alum Cast In 'Manhattan'
Game of Thrones Viserys Targaryen aka Harry Lloyd is making his way to WGN America’s Manhattan. He’s nabbed the series regular role of a scientist in the series revolving around the construction of the world first atomic bomb in Los Alamos, New Mexico.
