Frank Underwood is officially dead, a trailer for the sixth and final series of House of Cards has revealed.
The trailer gave no details of how Underwood dies in the show but Netflix has said the final series will focus on Wright's devious character, who became US president at the end of season five after Spacey's character quit the Oval Office. The final season of House of Cards will drop on Netflix on 2 November with eight episodes rather than the usual 13.
Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear join House of Cards
Lane and Kinnear will play siblings in the revamped series, but it’s not yet clear how the Oscar nominees’ characters are connected to Robin Wright’s Claire Underwood, who will become the center of the series without its former lead, Spacey’s murderous President Frank Underwood.
House Of Cards' To Continue Without Kevin Spacey
Netflix confirmed today that the upcoming sixth and final season of House of Cards will be going ahead without any involvement from Kevin Spacey. The already-ordered season appeared to be in jeopardy after its star had allegations of sexual misconduct levied against him, resulting in a suspension of production in late October.
With Spacey now removed from the veteran political drama, the final eight-episode season will proceed with Robin Wright in the lead - but it may be some time before its release. Production is not set to begin until sometime in 2018, which could mean a premiere either late in the year or even in 2019.
House of Cards Season 6 Production Suspended Indefinitely
Cast and crew of the MRC-produced series were told of the decision. The Emmy-nominated House of Cards had been in production in Baltimore, Maryland on its sixth season. Executives from Netflix and MRC arrived in Baltimore yesterday “to meet with our cast and crew to ensure that they continue to feel safe and supported” following the allegations against Spacey who had not been scheduled to be on set yesterday.
'House Of Cards' Ending After Season 6
Netflix announced today that House of Cards will be coming to an end after its upcoming sixth season. The news comes in the wake of recent claims against star Kevin Spacey, who is being accused of a 1986 incident of unwanted sexual advances against then-14-year-old actor Anthony Rapp.
The veteran political drama premiered in 2013 as the streaming service's first-ever original series, and has since gone on to garner a wealth of critical acclaim and accolades for its strong performances and engrossing storytelling. The series put Netflix on the map as a serious player in the television space, paving the way for countless other streaming shows that would follow.
Season 6 of House of Cards just recently began production for an expected premiere in mid-2018, with a 13-episode run that will conclude the series.
House Of Cards Renewed For Season 5
Netflix announced today that House of Cards has been renewed for a fifth season. The veteran political drama, which is the streaming service's first-ever original series, received the good news ahead of its fourth season premiere, which is set for early March.
Season 5 of House of Cards will air in 2017, and for the first time the show will be without its creator, Beau Willimon, who is departing after four seasons. Willimon also acted as an executive producer and showrunner of the acclaimed series, which will now be searching for a suitable replacement to helm the show going forward.
