Ricky and Heather met in middle school and were fast friends, they even shared a locker. Once in high school, their friendship turned to romance. Just one year after graduation, they tied the knot and had their first daughter followed two years later by their second. They currently are renting a 100-year old farmhouse in rural Georgia - but the rent is high and they are struggling financially to make ends meet. Collectively the duo works five jobs to keep food on the table for their girls. Ricky went through training with Atlanta’s Fire and Rescue and has now become an invaluable member of Firehouse 5, and Heather refurbishes antique furniture. She has worked on over 2000 pieces of furniture and with Ricky’s help with carpentry, she’s done quite well. But not well enough to buy a home - and that’s the American dream.
