Hosted by Daryl Somers, Hey Hey It's Saturday is a variety show, featuring sketches, performances, a talent show of sorts, and an array of celebrity guests, ranging from Australian television stars, to actors in big Hollywood blockbuster movies. It ran for 27 years broadcasting its last episode in November 1999. After the popularity of two reunion shows in 2009, it came back TV screens in 2010.

Comedian and Audience Warm Up 1990-99, 2009-present
After his beginnings as a butcher, Russell started his illustrious stand up career in his twenties by winning a talent search at his local football club.
He went on to perform stand-up at the Last Laugh Theatre Restaurant in Melbourne which opened the door to the main stage.
Russell has written and performed on The Comedy Company, starred in his own Russell Gilbert Show on the Nine Network, hosted the national radio broadcast Russell Gilbert Live, became a regular on Triple M's the Cage and co-hosted with Livinia Nixon on the Nine Network series Bark Off.
Joining the Hey Hey team in 1990, his contribution was so popular, he received Logie nominations for Most Popular Comedy Personality in 1996 and 1997.
Russell also toured the US opening for Russell Crowe and his band.
A lover of good food and cooking, Russell has also presented cooking segments on David and Kim's 9.00am and Honey Galore on radio 3AW breakfast show with Ross and John, as well as Chewing the Fat on weekends with Bob Hart.
