13-episode miniseries will reconnect with the basic elements of the show’s first season where ordinary people were waking up to the fact that they had extraordinary abilities. This series will be preceded by a new digital series that will introduce audiences to the new characters and story lines that will take the Heroes phenomenon to new places".
Though always planned as a limited series, NBC confirmed today thatHeroes Reborn will be ending its run after one season. The Tim Kring superhero drama, which acted as a revival of the once-popular, previously-cancelled Heroes, premiered as part of the network's 2015 fall schedule for a 13-episode stint.
The reboot didn't do much to renew viewer interest in the franchise, however, and its lackluster ratings on Thursday nights reflected that. One would image that if Reborn managed to draw a sizable audience, NBC might have explored possibilities to bring the show back for further installments. But as it stands now, the network says no more incarnations are planned for the foreseeable future.
Heroes Reborn airs its series finale on Thursday, January 21.
