Steven "Flash" Gordon lives with his mother in Maryland. His scientist father was apparently lost in a mysterious accident when Flash was 13 years old. Flash and his former girlfriend, television news reporter Dale Arden, meet the elder Gordon's eccentric former assistant when rifts appear in space, allowing travel between Earth and Mongo.
Mongo is ruled by the ruthless dictator Mongo.
