Everybody Hates Chris is an American sitcom on The CW Television Network. It is inspired by the teenage experiences of comedian Chris Rock (who narrates the show), while growing up in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn. Unlike other CW sitcoms, Everybody Hates Chris does not use a studio audience laugh track.
Jacqueline Mazarella as Ms. Morello, Chris' extremely naively racist teacher, and later his high school principal. Due to her apparent attraction to African American men, she holds a soft spot for Chris and tries to support him at every opportunity (such as giving him a Valentine's Day card out of sympathy, or giving him advice on running for the class president). In her efforts to be sweet, kind, and supportive, she unintentionally makes statements that come off as racist, most of which Chris tolerates (or is oblivious to). In some episodes, however, it seems as if she's deliberately being racist and just making it appear as if it's a mistake (e.g. when Chris said he was talking to Greg in class about his grandfather dying she scolds him and says he was making it up to get out of a test, but when Greg backs him up on it, she suddenly becomes sympathetic and compassionate, she then asks Chris “Now who’s going to teach you to tap-dance?”). She always assumes Chris has no father and his mother is on crack.
