The show ran for 21 yrs and was a popular series set in an East End of London police station. Unlike later police series, it focused less on crime and policing and more on the family-like nature of life in the station. With an 'evening all' to start an introduction to that evenings episode set the tone for a family show. During the course of the show PC Dixon became Station Sergeant Dixon.
