Life is really tough for Julie and Billy, two 30-something aspiring comics living and working in New York City. While their friends and acquaintances move on to find success and love, they continue to struggle with careers and relationships, getting more bitter by the day.
Billy moves to Los Angeles with Julie's help. Marilyn writes a best-selling memoir, also with Julie's help. Changes at the cafe include a new waiter, and eventually, new ownership. Arthur's office in Florida meets an untimely demise.
It is being reported that Hulu has cancelled Difficult People after three seasons. The news comes two months after the comedy's third-season finale, and brings to an end one of the streaming service's longest-running and best-reviewed original series.
Created by and starring Julie Klausner, Difficult People followed two best friends and aspiring comedians, played by Klauser and Billy Eichner, living in New York City. Hating everybody but each other, their irreverent antics land them in some very awkward situations.
The cancellation of Difficult People leaves just two comedies in Hulu's current line-up: Casual - which has already been renewed for a fourth and final season, and Future Man - which premiered today.
