Production has begun in Los Angeles on HBO Films’ “Deadwood” movie, it was announced today by Casey Bloys, president, HBO Programming. Continuing the story begun in David Milch’s critically acclaimed, Emmy®-winning HBO series, the feature-length presentation features original cast members from the series. In the “Deadwood” film, the indelible characters of the series are reunited after ten years to celebrate South Dakota’s statehood. Former rivalries are reignited, alliances are tested and old wounds are reopened, as all are left to navigate the inevitable changes that modernity and time have wrought.
Deadwood Movie Revival Eying Fall 2018 Production Start Date
After waiting years for a Deadwood revival, it looks like fans of the HBO drama might get to see the return of Ian McShane’s Al Swearengen, but the long-gestating Deadwood movie took a baby step forward to reality as it eyes a Fall 2018 start date.
Deadwood had 3 seasons, 36 episodes and 10 specials that aired between 2004 and 2006.
The series won eight Emmy Awards (of 28 nominations) and one Golden Globe.
