A massive earthquake destroyed most of Tokyo. Ten years later, a survivor Igarashi Ganta was an ordinary student until a strange man covered in blood floats through his classroom windows. The Red Man massacres Ganta's entire class but instead of killing him, embeds a red crystal shard in Ganta's chest. Now, Ganta is sentenced to life in Deadman Wonderland, a massive theme park like prison.
