The Deadliest Job in America is, claimed to be crab fishing on the Bering Sea. A good season can make one man a year’s salary in just a few days! With forty-foot waves, 700 pound crab pots, freezing temperatures and your mortality staring you in the face…this job ranks as one of the deadliest.
Also affectionately called "Eddie Pineapple" because of his Hawaiian roots, he is a long-time friend and former schoolmate of all the Hillstrands.
Eddie has been crabbing for more than 20 years and has fished on many different vessels.
He's a gung-ho fisherman with a fierce work ethic. A couple of years ago, he broke his ankle and was told by the doctor not to work on deck, but within a week he was out shoving pots in the bitter cold. In addition to crabbing, he also fishes for salmon with Scott Hillstrand during the off season.
Over the past few seasons, he has taken over the Time Bandit in the summers, putting in monstrous hours and time away from home. The effort has not gone unnoticed. Captains Johnathan and Andy now see Eddie as a possible candidate for the wheelhouse.
