In the frontier town of Nome, Alaska, there’s a gold rush on. But you’ve never seen gold mining like this before — here, the precious metal isn’t found in the ground. It’s sitting in the most unlikely of places: the bottom of the frigid, unpredictable Bering Sea. And there are a handful of people willing to risk it all to bring it to the surface.
First, Steve Riedel was fired off the Wild Ranger (three times over). Then, he tried his hand at an ice mining operation (but failed). Next, he captained a summer dredge (until it was repossessed).
Still, Steve’s hoping for a change with his six‐inch winter dredge. He’s scaling down, only working with young veteran miner, Dale.
Steve and Dale are planning on pulling out all the stops this summer when they bring up an underwater tractor. Steve is highly intelligent, charming, and obviously - a uniquely Alaskan character.
