CBS Cancels Battle Creek

CBS has cancelled Battle Creek after one season. The comedic crime drama premiered in March as a midseason replacement but faltered in the ratings, starting low and slipping further during the course of its run. The show still has four episodes remaining before calling it quits for good.

CBS has today picked up Battle Creek to series for its 2014-15 schedule. The show follows two detectives with very different worldviews who are teamed up and must answer the question: Are cynicism, guile and deception enough to clean up the semi-mean streets of Battle Creek, Mich., in the face of a complete lack of resources; or is the exact opposite true – it takes naïveté, trust and a boatload of resources?

Damon Herriman Cast In Crime Drama 'Battle Creek'
Damon Herriman (Justified) has joined the cast of upcoming Vince Gilligan/David Shore police drama Battle Creek. Originally pitched to networks by Gilligan almost a decade ago, Battle Creek centers on a mismatched pair of law enforcement partners, one a local detective, the other an FBI Agent. Herriman will play Detective Niblet, protege to outspoken fellow detective Aaron Funkhauser. Battle Creek has been granted a 13-episode straight to series order by CBS, and will premiere sometime during the 2014-2015 season.

Dean Winters Lands Lead In CBS' Crime Drama 'Battle Creek'
Law &Order : SVU lawman Dean Winters has landed one of the lead roles on the CBS crime drama Battle Creek. The project, which got a series order back in September, follows two detectives with very different world views as they labor clean up the semi-mean streets of Battle Creek, Michigan, in the face of a complete lack of resources. Winters will play Detective Russ Agnew, a smart, tough and pragmatic guy who gets results but with whom no one wants to partner because of his reputation for being mean and gruff.
