Two cousins, with different views on art versus commerce, on their way up through the Atlanta rap scene; Earnest "Earn" Marks, an ambitious college drop-out and his estranged cousin, who suddenly becomes a star.
FX announced today that Atlanta has been picked up for a third season. The good news follows a spring sophomore run that saw the comedy continue to garner critical acclaim from both critics and audiences alike.
The series premiered in 2016 with a 10-episode run that went on to win numerous awards, including two Emmys and two Golden Globes, including one for Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy. Season 2 returned this year with 11 episodes under the title Atlanta: Robbin' Season. With many hailing it as even better than Season 1, the show will likely be in the conversation come award time once again.
Created by comedian and musician Donald Glover, who also stars in the series, Atlanta follows two cash-strapped cousins trying to better their lives by making a living in the city's hip hop scene.
Look for Season 3 of Atlanta in early 2019.
