Almost Family centers on only child Julia Bechley, who finds her life turned upside down when her father is forced to reveal that over the course of his pioneering career as a fertility doctor, he used his own sperm to conceive dozens of children. As she dutifully begins to track down her emerging group of siblings, among a sea of brothers, Julia discovers only two sisters - both of whom quickly become a part of her now redefined family.
It looks like we have our first cancellation of 2020, as Fox is pulling Almost Family from its schedule after this Wednesday's episode. The move comes as the low-rated drama winds down its 13-episode run.
Since its premiere in October, the hourlong series has struggled to find an audience on Wednesday nights. Airing at 9:00pm, its ratings and overall viewership numbers had a hard time keeping up with its time slot competition.
Almost Family follows Julia, an only child who is shocked to find out that her father, a fertility doctor, used his own sperm to conceive over one hundred children during the course of his career. This revelation leads Julia to come to know two new sisters, and the three young women begin to form an untraditional family bond.
Considering the show's lacklustre ratings and the move to Saturday, its finale on February 22 will likely serve as its series ender.
