Absentia centers on an FBI agent Emily Byrne, (Stana Katic) who, while hunting one of Boston’s most notorious serial killers, disappears without a trace and is declared dead. Six years later, she is found in a cabin in the woods, barely alive and with no memory of the years she was missing. Returning home to learn her husband (Heusinger) has remarried and her son is being raised by another woman, she soon finds herself implicated in a new series of murders.
Absentia's story has come to an end. Star Stana Katic took to social media this afternoon to announce that the crime thriller will not be returning for a fourth season. The news comes nearly a year after the series wrapped its third season on Amazon Prime Video.
Absentia premiered in 2017 with Katic in her first lead television role since her 7-year stint on ABC's 'Castle'. In the show she plays FBI agent Emily Bynre, who six years ago mysteriously disappeared while hunting one of Boston's most notorious serial killers. Long-presumed dead, she is found barely alive in a cabin in the woods with no memory of what happened to her while she was in captivity. Now free, Emily returns home but learns that her husband has remarried and her son is being raised by another woman. Before long, Emily finds herself implicated in a new series of murders.
