Samantha Bond is the daughter of actor 'Philip Bond' and TV producer Pat Sandys, and is the sister of the actress 'Abigail Bond' and the journalist Matthew Bond. She attended the Godolphin and Latymer School, and trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and is a resident of St Margarets, London.
Bond is best known for her roles as Miss Moneypenny in the James Bond films during the 'Pierce Brosnan' years, as Auntie Angela in the BBC comedy Outnumbered and as Lady Rosamund Painswick in Downton Abbey.
- Was nominated for Broadway's 1999 Tony Award as Best Actress (Featured Role - Play) for "Amy's View."
- She has been friends with the former Miss Moneypenny, 'Caroline Bliss' (qv) since both of them were eleven years old. Casting director 'Debbie McWilliams' (qv) was unaware of this when replacing Bliss with Bond. Not expecting to return after the departure of 'Timothy Dalton' (qv) anyway, Caroline harbored no ill feelings towards her friend, saying: "I am just glad it has gone to someone I love and who needs the money!".
