Michael Gerard Hagerty was an American movie and television actor, likely best known for his role as Mr. Treeger in the hit comedy-sitcom Friends and most recently as Ed Miller on Somebody Somewhere.
Hagerty was noted for his distinctive mustache and thick Chicago accent and got his start as a performer at the city’s famed improv theater company Second City.
Chicago native Hagerty amassed a long list of TV guest roles, primarily in comedies, but also in dramas like ER and Deadwood. In addition to Friends, he appeared in a memorable episode of Seinfeld as a clothing-store owner and had recurring roles in the comedies Lucky Louie (starring Louis C.K.), The George Carlin Show, recurring roles on Brooklyn Nine-Nine as Captain McGintley, and had guest-starring roles on Shameless, The Goldbergs, ER, Grey's Anatomy, Happy Endings, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Glee, Medium, Monk, Entourage, Ally McBeal, Boston Legal, Grace Under Fire, Martin, The Wonder Years, Cheers and many more.
