A native of Canada, Gordon had made a career of playing despicable characters. His breakthrough came when he was cast as the pathologically evil Adam Carrington in the popular nighttime soap opera "Dynasty" (1981). In 1984 when Dynasty ended he moved on to daytime soaps, and became Mason Capwell. The producers couldn't have picked a better Mason.
- Graduated from Montreal's McGill University with honors
- At first, he wanted to work in architecture or law, he made up his mind very late on to be an actor.
- His father died circa 1963.
- He sued Aaron Spelling Productions in the early '90s for not telling him early enough about the movie _Dynasty: The Reunion (1991) (TV)_ (qv) (Gordon starred in its prequel: _"Dynasty" (1981)_ (qv)). The movie team called him only five days before he was to do his first scenes for _"Santa Barbara" (1984)_ (qv) (which he was a member of the cast of at the time) so the Santa Barbara crew couldn't give him time off to be in the movie because the schedules didn't match.
