BIOGRAPHY:

TRIVIA:
  • He has performed with the National Theatre.
  • Graduated from RADA.
  • He appeared in The Elephant Man and shares the same name as the doctor who took John Merrick into the hospital (Dr. Frederick Treves 1853-1923). Dr Treves was actor Frederick Treves' great uncle in real life.
  • He is the father of 'Simon Treves' (qv), who played 'Stinker' Pinker in Jeeves and Wooster.
  • He is an Associate Member of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
  • During World War II he served in the convoy Operation Pedestal whose aim was to resupply Malta under siege by the Axis. The heroic efforts of the Royal Navy and Merchant Marine is considered by many to be one of the key turning points of World War II. The lifting of the siege of Malta prevented the Axis from controlling the Mediterrean and in turn from gaining control of the Middle Eastern oil fields.
  • Served in the British Merchant Navy during World War Two.
  • On his first voyage with the Merchant Navy, his ship, the freighter Waimarama, was involved in the 'Pedestal' Convoy to Malta. The Waimarama was sunk on August 13th, and Treves helped save several of his shipmates, including the only ships' officer to survive the sinking, 3rd Wireless Operator John Jackson. Treves, then 17 years old, received the British Empire Medal and the Lloyd's War Medal for his actions.
