Eoin Christopher Macken (born February 21, 1983) is an Irish actor, film maker, author, and model. His first name is pronounced Owen. He has appeared in films such as The Callback Queen, Studs, 3Crosses and Centurion. He has also appeared on television in BBC series Merlin as Sir Gwaine.
Born in Dublin. He began his interest in drama at University College, Dublin. At the age of 19, he became a highly successful model, chosen as the face of Abercrombie and Fitch, in addition to working for Ralph Lauren, Braun and GQ magazine. After joining the Attic studio of drama he spent some time in Los Angeles, where he directed the well-regarded short, Dreaming For You, about young acting hopefuls in Tinseltown, in addition to completing his psychology degree.
After the death of his father in 2007, Macken took a break from acting. He returned to the performing the following year in the role of drug dealer Gavin Cluxton, in the RTÉ's flagship soap Fair City. He played the part for more than four months and also appeared live on the show Fair City Sings, where he performed "Hallelujah".
In addition, Macken has directed several feature films: Christian Blake in 2008, Dreaming For You, The Inside and Cold. Macken also directed the documentary The Fashion of Modelling.
He currently stars in the NBC series The Night Shift as TC Callahan.
Macken always wears two charms around his neck - his father's wedding ring and an Egyptian symbol from his mother. He has a younger sister, Freya Macken.
Living between Dublin and New York.
Macken is skilled in swimming, horseback riding, golf, soccer, athletics, climbing, surfing, sailing and kick-boxing.
Moved to Los Angeles to train with acting coach Vincent Chase.
