When Massey announced his departure in the press room at the Daytime Emmys last June, it definitely surprised the producers who were unaware of Massey's plans. Sources close to TV Guide state that Days producers retaliated by letting Massey out of his contract early and hiring an as-yet-un-named replacement. I guess the producers of soaps create drama on and off screen.
He tells TV Guide: "I'm actually glad things went down the way they did. I appreciate the producers for letting me out of my deal early because I can now pursue other opportunities I couldn't under contract. And, really, I want what's best for the show and the character. I'm honored to have played Will's coming-out story, and really proud of the Will and Sonny romance. It's important that they pass the torch to another actor and continue the story."
Massey's final episode will air around December 31st. What do you think of Massey's departure? Will you miss his character Will Horton?
