Yesterday launched as UK History on October 30th 2002 to coincide with the launch of the Freeview digital terrestrial television platform. The name changed to UKTV History on March 8th 2004 (when the "UK" channels' prefixes were changed to "UKTV"). It was available 7am to 1am on all platforms until October 15th 2007 when UKTV rebranded UKTV G2 as Dave and launched it in UKTV History's channel space. UKTV History took over the broadcast capacity used by the unsuccessful UKTV Bright Ideas which meant that it would now stop broadcasting at 6pm every day. Being unable to broadcast in prime time on Freeview meant drastically reduced ratings. As announced on November 13th 2008, that as part of a UKTV-wide rebrand, UKTV History was renamed Yesterday on March 2nd 2009.
